In order to reach our objective to build Chicagoland's largest network of community-minded people, we apply the lessons of community organizing--go where the people are. Our events tools help create and maintain connections for event organizers:

-----------------------------------

Event Tools: Connection Station

The Connection Station is a kiosk that visits community events to setup free websites for their participants. The Connection Station (equipped with several Internet-connected computers and staff) helps event attendees expand their online profiles in your website and/or create their own unique websites hosted on the CitizenPowered.org platform in just minutes.

Chicago Mayor Daley's Summer Assembly, June 2008
Sponsored in part by Verizon Wireless, Green Street Project brought its Connection Station to Mayor Daley's Summer Assembly, held at McCormick Place. We setup nine computers--connected to the Internet with Verizon Wireless service--and helped attendees create their own websites.

With financial and technology support from Verizon Wireless and other sponsors, the Connection Station is free for qualifying events. Please contact Todd McMeen at tmcmeen@greenstreetproject.org for more details.

Event Tools: Registration Station
Green Street Project has developed a "clipboard to website and beyond" registration solution to help event organizers:

* Register all attendees;
* Keep the conversation going with attendees after the event;
* Enable event organizers, attendees and sponsors to stay connected with one another.

How does it work?

1. We provide the expertise for how to setup your Registration Station, including how to train your event hosts.
2. We provide you with a quantity of registration forms.
3. You enter the contact info from the registration forms into a simple spreadsheet.
4. We turn your website into a social networking portal by plugging a simple widget into your website. Don't have a website? We can build a free website for you on our CitizenPowered.org platform.
5. We create online profiles within your portal for each of your event attendees, by importing the names from the spreadsheet.
6. We configure your social networking website so that your event attendees can participate in a way that matters to them--and to you.
7. We send an email to all event attendees encouraging them to return to your website to flesh out their profile and participate in your website.

Example
In August 2008, Green Street Project provided registration support for the Black Women's Expo. We registered 2,000 people. We setup a widget within TheBlackWomensExpo.com, transforming their traditional website into a social networking website.
