Creating Programs is like devising a War Strategy, and Jesus once said no man goes to war without first counting the cost. Last year we as a Neighborhood, Community, and City lost over 30 School Aged Children to Gun Violence. That number looks to repeat itself this year if we as "Concerned Citizens" don't take a stand.
In war One must have an Offensive, Defensive and Exit Plan. We have all seen that just because One has Military Might to start and win wars, does not guarantee Peace in the Area, Terrain and or Region. The question has to be asked am I willing to die for what I believe and is what I believe based on mere Belief, Pragmatism or Scientific Facts.
The saddest thing is seeing Programs for At-risk Youth/Young Adults suffer and or die for lack of Grants, Resources, and Funding; which are the Life-blood of all Non-profit Organisations. The questions become how can One bring Peace to Areas, Terrain and Regions that are plagued with Gang Violence, Drugs, Murder, etc?
Many claim that Education begins at home, but if that Education is watching your Mom being rape by Drug Lords, and knowing that your Dad is somewhere smoking crack then thats one "Hell of an Education". Most At-risk Youth/Young Adult Programs are "Torpid" at best, mainly because the people in charge are just sitting around receiving Grants and Funding while at the same time Polarizing, Marginalizing, and Disenfranchising At-risk Youth/Young Adults.
Here's the painful, yet inimical hidden truth that exist in Poor Black Communities Nationwide, most of our Religious, Political, and Community Leaders have no real desire for Urban Ministry and At-risk Youth/Young Adults. The majority of Programs in "Tha Hood" are operated by Blacks who are in Fraternities and or Sorrorities, and guess what if you're not apart of the club then don't expect to be catered too as it realtes to receiving the full benefits that are advertised in fancies brochures for At-risk Youth/Young Adults.
The problem is we have Arrogant Black Elites/Talented Tenth running Programs for Poor Black Kids that they really don't care about. Most Programs in "Tha Hood" are nothing more then Photo Opts and Sideshows too place on Fraternal and Sorority Websites! I'm tried of the Black Elite blaming everything on the Invisible White Man and or Mayor Richard M. Daley, when every Black Community has its on Community Leaders, Aldermen, Cook County Commissioner, State Representative, State Senator, Congressmen, and Senator.
The stark reality is that most of the killings in Chicago are committed by Hispanic and African Americans. We don't need to March and Protest in Springfield if were going to continue on this road of picking and choosing who our supposedly Public Programs are secretly for! Once we remove all stupid stipulations and stigmatizing condescending practices as it relates to rather the people we help have family members that are (Black Greeks, Masons, Boule, Links, Old Guard, Girl Friends, Druids, Order of Snakes, Eastern Star, and or Former Debutantes or Escorts who grew up in Jack and Jill), we will then see true and honest progress.
Is it to late to revive Programs in the Black Community? I give "Madd Respect" to White Folks/Other Races who come in "Tha Hood" looking to change things and conduct research, however, the silent neurological killer of most Black Programs are the people in charge of those Programs, and those people are Arrogant Black Elites with the motto that says "Just because you're my color does not mean you're my kind".
I blame Black Religious, Political, Social, and Community Leaders for allowing "Tha Hood" to become "Tha Jungle". Hope you're having a great life building Multi-million Dollar Churches off the backs of Poor People. Hope you're having fun vacationing in Sag Harbor or Martha's Vineyard while reading, knowing, watching, and laughing at Poor People struggle to stay alive.
Why care, when Poor People are Bitter and cling to Guns and Religion?
